Flandria Customer Event
Building Connections Beyond Technology
In IT, everything revolves around connections. Systems that communicate with each other, data that flows seamlessly through processes, and teams working towards a common goal. But as important as technology may be, it is ultimately people who make the difference.
That is why organizations invest not only in digital connectivity, but also in human relationships. Strong partnerships are not built solely through meetings, project discussions, or status updates. Often, the most valuable conversations happen outside the day-to-day work environment.
Recently, ABC-Groep hosted a customer event aboard the Flandria during the Oosterweel Cruise through the Port of Antwerp. It was an evening that perfectly illustrated why connection means so much more than technology alone.
Why Personal Connections Still Matter
In a world where hybrid work, video meetings, and digital communication have become the norm, personal interaction can sometimes be taken for granted. Yet face-to-face contact remains one of the strongest foundations of lasting business relationships.
When customers, partners, and colleagues meet in a different setting, space is created for conversations that might not otherwise take place. There is time to share experiences, discuss challenges, and exchange ideas without the pressure of an agenda or deadline.
These informal moments help create:
Greater trust between customers and partners
More open communication
Stronger long-term collaboration
A deeper understanding of each other's challenges and ambitions
After all, relationships are not built only when everything goes according to plan. They are built when people genuinely get to know one another.
A Look at the Oosterweel Project
During the cruise, guests not only had the opportunity to connect, but also to learn more about one of Europe's most ambitious infrastructure projects: the Oosterweel Connection.
Often referred to as "the project of the century," its goal is to complete the Antwerp Ring Road, improve mobility, and significantly enhance the quality of life in the region.
The Oosterweel project includes:
A new Scheldt crossing through a road tunnel
Completion of the Antwerp Ring Road
New cycling infrastructure and sustainable mobility solutions
Green spaces and covered sections that reconnect the city with its surroundings
Investments in a healthier and safer living environment
The project demonstrates how complex challenges can only be addressed successfully when multiple stakeholders work together towards a shared objective.
What Infrastructure Projects Can Teach Us
Although the Oosterweel project and IT may seem very different at first glance, they share an important characteristic: success is built on connection.
Just as infrastructure connects different parts of a city, technology connects people, processes, and organizations. But to make those connections sustainable, trust, collaboration, and mutual understanding are essential.
This applies to major construction projects just as much as to IT transformations, cloud migrations, cybersecurity initiatives, or digital innovation programs.
Technology can accelerate processes, but strong relationships are what make projects truly successful.
Connection as Part of Our Approach
At ABC-Groep, we believe successful partnerships start with listening, understanding, and staying engaged. That is why we value opportunities to bring customers, partners, and colleagues together in a different setting.
Not to talk about projects, but to get to know each other better.
Because ultimately, those personal connections form the foundation of long-term partnerships, mutual trust, and successful collaborations.
A Successful Evening
The Oosterweel Cruise provided the perfect setting for engaging conversations, fresh insights, and meaningful encounters. Against the backdrop of the Port of Antwerp, participants gained a better understanding of the future of the region while enjoying valuable time together.
And that is exactly what ABC-Groep is all about: bringing people, technology, and ideas together to create lasting value.
